Will never forget this day…

Day 22(15/10/09)
the beginning of the last wk! haha...so erm...7 more days to Osaka! hehe...today, as the debuty director of nursing have something on, so she cant give us a briefing on how the hospital works and all, so after changing in the locker place (which was 5th storey and no lift) we head off to the hospital with Chika and Haruka san.

then, met the in charge from the 2 wards, A8 and B8. I think maw suppose to go to B8 but the preceptor there speaks chinese so they posted me to B8 instead...so yup! I got a preceptor that can speaks a little chi and a little jap! Haha...maw says her ward is fun cause hers is palliative care...so cheering pt up shld be one of the main objective...but oh well, I got a preceptor that I like as well...so nothing to complain about...

so chika went wif me for orientation...haha my ward sister is Ito san again...another Ito san of course...just that both of them have the same family name! haha...then after orientation, i was to follow my preceptor...ueda san...so yup, her chinese is really china chinese lor! no play play! haha...i think 20 yrs ago, she went to china for 4 mth of chinese lessons, so that's where she pick up her chinese and met her husband...haha...so cool lor, her husband is african who can speaks chinese, english and japanese! haha...she say shes jealous of her husband...and when she try to tell me her husband, she say her 'ai ren' wah...cant take it la! or biang! hehe...but yup, shes good!

so after i was with her, she went through in details...really detail about the computer system and their way of assessing their patients. Japan took alot of concept from America so yup...many types of concepts and she went through one by one with me...like alot and confusing!

yup...then we observe another staff giving platelets to the patient. oh ya, my ward is haematology ward...so mainly deals with cancer related to blood and some HIV patients. so there are 10 positive air pressure rooms for patients who have really low resistance. the hospital is 5-10min walk from the bus stop and on top of that, you have to go to this building to change first then go to your ward...so abit troublesome! haha...

then had lunch...after that, saw doctor and the leader for the day discussing on patients condition...then saw the drug trolley...also, the nurses daily conference on different topics...and later sponge a patient...the gown is cloth, but is rewear...so first, they have 3 pails of water to sponge patient. first pail with soap is use to clean the pt body. second pail...i dont know what it is for...the last pail is for patient to soak his feets in after wiping his body...and that pt skin is really dry.so we have to scrub the legs in the pail of water...i scrub all the huge pieces of dry skin off...felt disgusted...so after that at 3pm went to see bone marrow aspiration...goodness...its so painful la! first, the doctor put this metal thing in, twist and turn, think they trying to get it into the bone...then suddenly, the thing will sink in, so it is in...then they will draw the marrow out. according to the patient, it is super painful...yup so i see 2 patients...then went off...theres one really friendly doctor...coz the room very small, so i was peering from a gap in the curtains...then after he inserted the metal thing into the bone and was about to take syringe to draw the marrow, he stop and peek through the curtain to see what the person behind the curtain(which is me) was doing...den ask me to go to the other side to see...but its just so crampy in that room...haha...

so after im done, already 3.15pm...maw should have gone back...told chika san to tell her to go back first...and knowing she cant live without internet, she would have left even before i told her...so yup, i went back alone...haha...its not so bad afterall, haha...not forgting shes a directory idiot, we came to hosp with chika san...so when i have to leave, i really think hard at every junction to see where i have to turn...its abit confusing though...but i managed to reached the bus stop without getting lost! haha...and i still shop at one pharmacy somemore...then when i check my phone at the bus stop, i got 2 missed call from her, so i called but no ans, then bus arrived so i bought the bus...and haha...called back, she pick up and tell me that she just reached the bus stop! Wahahaha...i was like 'you left half an hr ago!' and she said shes lost! haha...who ask her dont wait for me! end up walking more than she should and wasting so much time!

HAHAHAHAHAHA.......too bad lor! but yup, dinner home tonight...thing im going to bring rice over tomorrow...must try and finish the rice! hehe...take care and have a good day!
